Domestic RHI

How much could you be saving?

Today is a day that the renewable energy industry has been awaiting for many years- the domestic Renewable Heat Incentive (RHI) scheme has now gone live!

The RHI is a government incentive where you are paid a specified amount of money (tax free!) for every kilowatt hour of energy generated by your solar thermal system, heat pump or biomass boiler. The customer receives payments four times a year for seven years, thereby reducing the payback period and making renewable heating a realistic option for thousands of customers. The scheme is similar in style to the Feed-in Tariff, which pays people for generating electricity through solar PV, or wind turbines.

Technology

Tariff

Air-source heat pumps

7.3p/kWh

Ground and water-source heat pumps

18.8p/kWh

Biomass-only boilers and biomass pellet stoves with integrated boilers

12.2p/kWh

Solar thermal panels (flat plate and evacuated tube for hot water only)

19.2 p/kWh

Here at SASIE we are very excited about the launch of the RHI, as it will mean that our customers can benefit from the available payments and persuade more people to make the switch to renewable heating. Anybody who has had a renewable technology installed since July 2009 by an MCS registered company will now be eligible to receive the RHI, so we are currently in the process of informing all our past customers about the new incentive.

If you would like to register your existing system to receive the RHI, all you’ll need to do is obtain a Green Deal Assessment (SASIE can provide these at a small cost), and register on the OFGEM website.

If you’re interested in finding out how much you can earn in Renewable Heat Incentive payments, or to find out more information on renewable heating, please get in contact with us on 0115 916 1046, or email info@sasie.co.uk. We are able to provide impartial advice on the RHI and can give quotes and technical information on all forms of renewable technologies, insulation and bespoke systems.
